If you’ve ever run into this problem after styling your mustache, this blog post is for you. We’ll explain, step by step, how to fix it, and the reasons why it happens.
Pre-Styling
We can’t recommend enough how important this step is. Mustache hair has a natural growth pattern, and if it hasn’t been trained consistently, it will fight back, no matter how much time you spend styling. If you want to achieve a truly good-looking mustache, you simply can’t skip this step.
Pre-styling offers several tools you can use. The most common are a round brush or a comb paired with a hair dryer, directing the hairs toward the shape you want. Hair rollers are also a very effective option. We’ve heard countless times that by applying our Defender Mustache Balm and leaving hair rollers in for at least an hour, you can achieve an amazing, natural-looking handlebar.
By doing this a few times during the week, your mustache hairs will become trained to stay in that shape. This will save you hours of styling time and help you reach a much better final result.
Choosing the right wax for your mustache

In our mustache wax line, we have four different options:
1. Bare Bones: This provides a medium hold. When used with pre-styling, it will help shape and maintain your mustache as the hairs are trained to lie.
2. Sudden Death: Our strong hold wax locks your mustache in place. It doesn’t require a heat source for application, but we still recommend it if you’re aiming for a more polished look.
3. Bone Crusher: A favorite among competitive mustache enthusiasts, it offers an extra strong and firm hold. Even if you don’t typically pre-style, Bone Crusher will hold the shape you desire, no matter what.
4. Original Death Grip Wax: This is for serious mustaches only! The OG is extra tacky, requiring a bit more experience to use effectively. Its extra tackiness is recommended for achieving a good-looking mustache even with just a few months of growth, keeping all the hairs together and in place all day long!
